NEW GPSR Regulations - European Union & Northern Ireland
The EU’s new General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR) came into force on 13th December 2024, replacing the previous safety directives. This updated regulation ensures that all consumer products sold within the EU meet modern safety standards.
As UK regulations differ, UK businesses are now required to have an appointed EU-based representative to comply with the new rules. While our products are fully compliant with the GPSR, we are currently unable to appoint an EU representative due to the high costs involved.
What do this mean for EU & NI Customers
This means we are currently unable to sell to customers in the EU or Northern Ireland. Unfortunately, this includes both physical and digital products.
This is a disappointing development for us, and we want to thank all our EU and NI customers for their support over the years. However, due to the strict requirements, including the need for an EU-based representative, we are unable to continue selling to these areas under the current regulations.
We remain hopeful that there may be changes to the UK’s terms and alignment with EU regulations in the future. Should anything change, this page will be updated.

Workaround
If you have friends or family in the UK, orders can be placed and sent to them directly for you to collect from them at a later date.
At present, it is unclear whether the guidelines allow these parcels to be forwarded as gift parcels. If we receive any further information, this page will be updated.
What does this mean for us at Skye Stitching & Photos
We have made the touch decision to cease trading with the EU & NI until further notice. To comply, we’ve updated our website to prevent orders from being placed from EU and NI addresses. If one is received, we will sadly have to cancel and refund it.

The new regulations apply to all products placed or made available on the market whether new, used, repaired or reconditioned, with certain exceptions listed here. ‘Product’ means any item intended for consumers or likely to be used by consumers, whether in return for payment or free of charge. So even if you do not see yourself as a manufacturer making products, or you send something you have made for free to a customer based in the EU or Northern Ireland, these regulations still apply to you.
